Advanced Physics was a challenging course that provided foundational instruction in both physics and chemistry with emphasis on mathematical and quantitative treatment of concepts. The course explored physics by way of key scientific ideas and terms such as matter, force, density, energy, voltage; basic physical laws and conservation principles; kinetic, potential, and thermal energy; waves and electromagnetic energy. We studied atomic structure and its relation to chemical properties as represented in the Periodic Table of the Elements. We also conducted experiments and wrote lab reports each semester to learn how to use the tools of scientific inquiry to investigate physical phenomena.
